the last Discussion Since beginning my nursing profession

I’ve had to deal with healthcare reform and insurance concerns, and the opioid epidemic has been a significant concern for at least that long. As a mental health professional working in an emergency hospital, I am motivated to do something about the opioid epidemic since it is something I see every day and will significantly influence my future career. Within the last two years, there has been a notable increase in the amount of pressure placed on doctors to justify their use of opioids prescriptions in the broad sense; in California, patients who receive an opioid medication are also provided with Narcan and instruction on how to use it in an emergency, to reduce the number of people dying from opioid overdoses.
President Donald Trump said in 2017 that the opioid crisis in the United States was a public health emergency. He claimed that sixty-four thousand lives were claimed by drug overdoses in 2016, with opioids accounting for 75 percent of those fatalities (Conway, 2018). This was the greatest mortality rate ever recorded, according to the president. Providers and their capacity to prescribe opioid prescriptions were severely restricted by the ” Backup Act,” which President Trump signed. Computerized prescription monitoring has made it more difficult for patients who need several narcotic medications from various doctors.
There was a provision for schooling, primarily aimed at educating at-risk adolescents. Efforts have been undertaken to rein in illicit drug trafficking and help those in need of rehabilitation and recovery. When I consider how far the opioid epidemic has progressed, I believe this is the finest effort to fix the problem so far. President Trump considered all of the efforts that may be taken to avoid the spread of addiction, including educating our young when they are less likely to be influenced by drugs. To reduce the availability of the medicine, Trump has also set limits on the sources from which it may be administered and prescribed illegally.
A rehabilitation program was given to people who had previously been afflicted by or were still susceptible to addiction. A well-thought-out and implemented support act were firmly established in the community. However, the support act, which still provides the same reserves, has been preserved with less power than when it was put in place. Otherwise, we would’ve seen a more significant drop in individuals affected by opioids if we maintained this act with the same force. Opioid crisis initiatives by former President Barack Obama were overshadowed by his work on the Affordable Care Act, often known as Obamacare. The opioid epidemic was at its worst during Obama’s administration, with mortality rates rising to seventy percent since 2013, according to The Washington Times (Dinan, 2019).
The findings of the opioid epidemic became known to the public after the study was finished. Sadly, President Obama had other priorities, and the problem was mostly ignored as he established other programs that he may have believed would give resources to help reduce opioid usage by making insurance and medical care more widely available, including rehabilitation. While he was focused on implementing the ACA Act, I believe that if I had been in his shoes, I would have also worked hard to ensure that individuals in need of rehabilitation or mental health care got access to the programs they needed. I would back up prescription narcotics distribution and prior learning for the young people who are an enormous number of the fatalities recorded from the use of opioids are part of Trump’s proposal. While it’s impossible to say that the opioid epidemic is America’s war, the death toll is so high that it’s on par with the death toll from war elsewhere.
